Naomi Shihab Nye, born 1952 of a Palestinian father and American mother, grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, Jerusalem, and San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Trinity University (San Antonio, Tex.) in 1974 and is married to photographer Michael Nye. She has published several books of poetry, writings for children, and the young adult novel Habibi, and wrote as a columnist for Organica: A Magazine of Art and Activism. Nye has also worked as a visiting writer in schools at all grade levels. Her un...
